Staffs Classic Bike Show 2003

Here are some snaps from the 2003 Staffs Classic Bike Show. As usual, there is just too much to photograph and note, so I have focussed on the late 60's stuff and the specials.

Triumphs

Two bikes that caught my eye, the first was the 1000cc Triumph 4 - 'L' registered therefore 1971/72. The second was a Trident (T160) engined Bonneville frame.

The Triumph 4. IIRC, I remember seeing this bike at the Earls Court Bike Show in 1975.

I still think that is a gorgeous looking lump. Much nicer to look at than all the modern watercooled jobbies you see nowadays.

Two shots of the T160V powered Bonnie framed beast.

From memory, the original T160V sat in a Daytona frame (or very similar). The smoke effect paint is reminicent of the BMW R90/S of the same era.

Nortons, Tritons and Goldies

I thought these were really quite special. I would much rather see bikes that have some character of their builder included. Of course, I couldn't ignore the late Barry Sheene's Walmsley Molnar Manx Norton.

A Norton Rotary Steetfighter - you don't see many of them! And in Pink - takes all sorts I suppose.

A very nicely finished Triton - makes a change from the usual polished Ali tank

These two shots are (obviously) the same bike - I think it was a DBD44 Goldstar once

As usual for this show, it was beautifully finished

A more conventionally Goldie. Personally, I prefer the previous one.

Barry's Manx - he will be sadly missed.

Judy Fearnley's Yamaha SRX600

This was the bike featured as a "Street Special" in Classic and Motorcycle Mechanics in March 2003. I thought this bike was absolutely stunning. Photographs do not do it justice!

Judy wouldn't pose for me, but she did clear the clutter from around the bike. Top girl!

Its a bit dark, sorry. The reflective rear plate *really* lit up and screwed up the metering. However, you can clearly see how slim it is.

JPS Norton

Finally, I spotted this Norton for sale outside. I haven't seen one of these for several years so I thought I'd include it for posterity! I believe that the asking price was about £4000. (correction by tallbloke!).
